Attendance at meetings
Membership of the Group is explicitly
restricted to MPs and Peers. The purpose of the meetings is to allow MPs
and Peers to hear about and debate current issues away from party politics. The
All-Party Parliamentary Group on AIDS values its contacts with the HIV sector
outside parliament very highly, including professionals, volunteers and people
infected and affected by HIV. For each meeting, the Group tries to invite a
limited number of guests relevant to the subject under discussion to listen to
presentations and sometimes, to contribute. There is no permanent invitation
list, the meetings are not public and it is not possible to invite more than a
limited number to each meeting.
The APPG AIDS produces
regular updates with parliamentary information as
well as notice of the subject of future meetings. Colleagues are then welcome to
request an invitation to a meeting if they have a particular interest in the
subject under discussion. We hope that colleagues understand that it is not
possible to invite everyone who may wish to attend.
